LL.M. is a 2-year post-graduate degree in Law. LLM is the short term of Master of Laws. The program allows a law graduate to specialize in one of many legal sub-streams. It is a two years program. L.L.M. is divided mostly into four or more semesters depending upon the Institute. The maximum duration to complete LLM course may vary, as per Banaras Hindu University the course should be completed in maximum four years duration. LLM program is also offered through Correspondence or Distance mode by various Institutes, for example – Dr. Ambedkar Law College, Tirupati.

LLM Eligibility

The LL.M. (Master of Laws) program can be pursued only by the students who have successfully completed their under-graduation in law.i.e. LL.B / B.L. Degree / 5 Year LL.B. Degree course under 10+2+5 from any BCI recognized university or college with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade.

LLM Course Duration

The duration of  LLM is two years or four semesters.

LLM Admission Process

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the respective university or institute. The application forms for L.L.M. course are available in the month of May every year.

LLM Entrance Test Pattern

The LLM entrance test paper contains around 150 questions which can be both objective and subjective in nature. The duration of the test is 2 hours. The entrance exam includes negative marking for objective type questions. The marks deducted are usually 1/4th of the marks allocated to the question. The marking scheme is not fixed for all the universities and institutes, it may vary accordingly.
